Like I said, its a lot, I hope you enjoied.

Egyptian gods Character Design Silhouettes

For one of my classes, I had the opportunity to design my own syllabus. I decided to redesign 10 Egyptian deities for a 3D animated film.

I started by doing Silhouette studies of all the characters, a minimum of 25 for each character, the benefit of this is that I may think (and in a few cases this was true) that the first one I do is perfect, but if I continue to develop and search for new ideas I will get them.

Here's an additional sketch of Snape because I was working on this project when I heard about Alan Rickman's passing.

Visual Storytelling 2 Final Project

Here is my final for my Visual Storytelling II class. Oddly this is shorter than my Visual Storytelling I final project. This is largely due to the fact that this quarter was crazy busy so I had less time, but also I would argue that this final is 10 times better.

This story went through tons of revisions, I had to change the story several times to actually make sense. I finally got it all to work out, I was a little disappointed when I went back and looked at the first draft and realized how poor the first one was.

Process wise, I decided to hand letter this project, I hate the lettering process of a project specifically when it has to be lettered digitally. I am not good at it, and always feel that digital lettering looks so separated from the organicness of the artwork. Because of this, I decided to hand letter this project.

Ok nuff blah de  blah...

EPS: Final Project 2 Page Comic

So we had to make a 2-page comic for our final in this class... being me, I decided to make a 4-page comic.

Here it is, you know the drill, Thumbnails, Pencils, Final.

Thumbnails
I went through several different versions. This is what I printed out and put behind my Pencils. I laid it out how it would look in a comic, so that you can get an idea of how the page turn plays into the story.

Pencils
The biggest change here is the redesign of the vase. It is now meant to look like a severed head on a spike if you look close.

Final

We had critique today, and my professor said it was Great. And he is very critical and nit picky. He had nothing bad to say. I know that there are flaws with this comic, I'm not a professional yet. But, it really made my day because he is a working professional, so hearing "Anderson, this is great work, that's it." after he spent minutes critiquing other students work... I got a little teary-eyed.

Thank you, Dabbs, for being the best professor and teaching me so much.

EPS: Exterior Moods

For Environments, Props and Structures we were assigned to draw the same environment twice displaying two different moods, and two detail shots that accentuate the moods of the scenes.

Roughs

I decided to take the Firewatch tower to Final...
