Nib Illustration

In my advanced Inking class we had to do a full page illustration using only Nibs. The Prompt was "Teen Titans Go" so naturally I had them face off with a flying spagetti monster.

After critique I added some value to the buildings and more in general to the characters.

Batman Beyond Character Designs and boards

The second project in my Character design class was to design two original characters that would fit in an established animated show style. I chose Batman Beyond and here are my characters.

This is Orion The Constellation Constable, Grandson of Darkseid, Lord of apocalypse and brother to Shard.

This is Shard the Glass Baron, also Grandson of Darkseid, Lord of apocalypse and brother to Orion

After designing the characters, we had to introduce them into the animated show we picked. The hardest part was making sure the editing, and shot style fit the source material. I did my research and noticed that Batman Beyond has lots of pans and zooms, so I used that to my advantage in story telling. Here are my boards.

There we go! hope you enjoied, Next project is to make characters of my own in my own world. I cant wait!

Week 1 and 2 SWUs

SWU (SCAD Weekly Update) is a Vlog of the ins and outs of my time at SCAD Atlanta, studying Sequential ART, here are the first two weeks.

Week 1

Week 2

Terminator 2 Redesign

Wow... been a while, well I'm back at school so here come the assignment updates!.

its only the start of week 2 and I already have something finished.

In my Character Design for Animation class we were given the brief to redesign three of six characters for an animated version of the live action movie, Terminator 2. Our character options were, the T-1000,  the T-100, John Conner, Sarah Conner, and Miles Dyson. I chose the T-1000, T-100, and Miles Tyson.

First we were to create unique silhouettes for our characters, I did 3 full pages before narrowing it down to these.

Silhouette is important to consider, because you want a recognizable one. for example who is this?

See.

We submitted our silhouettes for critique and feedback and I settled on my choices and did some more rough sketches to figure out the posing and proportions further.

At this point I transferred my designs to a 14"x17" sheet of paper.

In the end we will be graded using a rubric that spans our technical abilities, originality and the final silhouettes.

Critique.

The critiques I got were that the T-1000's right hand feels less menacing than the rest of the character, I will probably change it to long spindly fingers. Also, the T-100's Gun is a little too small for his big hands, but that might be acceptable. And finally, Miles Dyson's Pants were reading a little like underware, which would change when color is added, but that's no excuse.

HeroesCon 2015

Wow, this update is coming really late...

HeroesCON 2015!

Last year I had my own table in artists alley, this year I was pleased to be sponsored by a friend I met last year, Nick Flair and Blackhole Comics. You can check out his work HERE

This year I had more products at my table than last year, but still not where I wanted to be. Ive learned that one of the keys at a con is variety, which I'm still building.

What I did have was:
mini-comic: <Context>

Sketchbook of warm up drawings and 3 comics

An assortment of front and back Bookmarks

Other original art

And I was open for commissions, of which I had quite a few.

Along with the bookmarks I had already made, I had some blanks that I offered to do commissions, here they are.

I went to the Friday night Drink and Draw where all artists are invited to draw art and donate it to be sold to raise money for  ALS. I drew two sketch cards and one coaster, unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the coaster, it was of Ghüs from Saga, and it was scooped up for purchase in seconds of my donating it which made me super happy.

Also on Friday I did my weekly chimera suggested by a Con attendee, The "Girafat"

Here are some other sketches I did while sitting in the booth.

I got to meet some amazing artists. It was a very inspiring weekend, I cant wait to see them all again next year and perhaps working with them in the future.
